Abstract: Ethical review for deceased organ donation constitutes a vital link in deceased organ donation and transplantation practice. To further standardize the current-day practice of ethical review for deceased organ donation in China, enhance the professionalism review capacity of ethics committees, and safeguard the sound and sustainable development of the deceased-organ-donation undertaking, this Expert Consensus on Ethical Review of Deceased Organ Donation was formulated through joint participation of multidisciplinary experts using a combination of the Delphi method and expert demonstration meetings. Practical operational recommendations are put forward from six dimensions: reviewing institutions, review-related foundations, review requirements, review procedures, review contents, and supervision and administration of ethical review for deceased organ donation. It is expected to facilitate the implementation of relevant laws, regulations and policies, and provide guidance for health-related administrative authorities, donation-management institutions, and medical institutions undertaking deceased-organ procurement and organ transplantation in the administration and clinical practice of deceased organ donation.
